During our first few years in the United States as a newly married couple, there were many times we had nothing. But each time, I was trained by the Holy Spirit to always say, the Lord will provide. When my wife first got her visa to join me 6 months after our wedding, I was going to need to get a house and to furnish it. I was living in the dormitory as a student which means I needed to get an apartment. I remember that my roommate asked me how I was going to cope financially when my wife comes, I told him, the Lord will provide. He probably thought I was impulsive! I went ahead to sign a lease by faith and hoping to pick up items wherever I could find them with time. About 2 weeks to my wife’s arrival and two weeks to the start of my signed lease, after church one day, a dear brother came to congratulate me on my wife’s visa and asked how I was preparing for her coming. I told him what I’ve done, then he asked how I was going to furnish the house. I said well, the Lord will provide. Then he told me, he had so many things his family was going to give away to charity because they had just bought a model home and had everything from their old house locked up in a storage and their storage lease was ending that week and since their new house came with everything, I could get whatever I needed from their storage. What a miracle! I quickly went back to change my lease start day to that week and in one single day, the house was thoroughly furnished; dining set, with living room set, and other decorations that would have been luxuries, everything came in a single day. My dear roommate came to visit weeks later and he couldn’t believe it. He reminded me how I had said the Lord will provide and He indeed had provided!
The Lord will provide wasn’t just a slogan for Abraham, it was a revelation to be expected and experienced. It is who the Lord really is! Trust in the Lord with all your heart. Never outgrow trusting in the Lord. It’s easier to trust in the Lord when you’re little and feel insufficient on your own. But with growth comes a measure of confidence in things and self, and the more you have the less you tend to trust in the Lord. This could be because you now have alternatives to depend on for life’s comforts. But the believer in the Lord must be careful to always trust God through it all. Be a believing believer. And to believe means to expect the Lord to do what He said He would do. Faith is acting as if the word of the Lord is true because it is. When it comes to trusting in the Lord with all your heart and not leaning on your own understanding, it is a life to live daily and practically. A mindset to operate with. Acknowledging the Lord as the source even when you seems to have the wherewithal is the art of trusting in the Lord
